Staged Reading of a New Play with Mission First Housing Group

coLAB Arts and Mission First Housing Group invite you to attend the staged reading of a new play based on the oral history and experiences of one resident living in permanent supportive housing in Edison, NJ.

An Indian immigrant, mother, survivor of domestic violence, former Wall Street associate, and houseless in Middlesex County, this play shares one woman’s story through her own words.

The play, currently untitled, is developed and directed by Dan Swern, with a script taken verbatim from 18 hours of interview. Additional dramaturgical support has been provided by Subhasis Das. Research support was provided by Lucy Gilch.

This is a free event. The play reading will be followed by a post-play discussion with Dr. Kristin O’Brassill-Kulfan, Assistant Teaching Professor & Coordinator of Public History - History Department at Rutgers University-New Brunswick.

Grant funding has been provided by the Middlesex County Board of County Commissioners through a grant award from the Middlesex County Cultural and Arts Trust Fund.
