When a man’s dream becomes more important to him than the individuals who helped inspire it.
Our story takes place in Asbury Park, New Jersey. It depicts a lifestyle in the town that is no longer in existence. The play takes place in the year 1968. When the sands and boardwalks of this town were salt and peppered by a mix of races clamoring to take in the summer sun and to be hit by the soothing ocean breeze. A time when department stores crowded the main streets and people could be seen wearing their Sundays best seven days of the week.
The play lets you into the life of a family whose values and basic structure, much like the town itself, are being hit hard by a changing world. A world of civil and racial unrest. Will these two structures prove strong enough to handle the problems that threaten to make them tumble? Or, will the values that form their base be too weak to stand up against a hard hitting world?
