PRODUCER & CURATOR - MOTION: NEW DANCE WORKS
Lauren Connolly, Artistic Director of Connolly & Co., is a choreogpraher and dance educator from New Jersey. She is a recipient of the New Jersey State Council on the Arts Individual Artist Fellowship Award as well as the Dance on the Lawn 2017 Emerging Commissioned New Jersey Choreographer. Lauren has shown her work throughout the New York, Boston, Philadelphia, and New Jersey area including New Jersey Performing Arts Center as part of Jersey (New) Moves! Emerging Choreographer Fellowship, The Koresh Come Together Dance Festival, New York Live Arts, Reverbdance: Echo Tours, Dance Teacher Summit, Rutgers University, Your Move, Dixon Place, Salvatore Capezio Theatre, Grounds for Sculpture and George Street Playhouse.
Connolly & Co. is invested in how dance can initiate physical, intellectual, emotional, and spatial transformations. Her work has been described as “sublime…full of surprises, admirably original ….and engaging…" In 2017, Connolly & Co. joined forces with Robert Mark Dance to create the first of many evenings that will celebrate the art of collaboration. Lauren serves a board member of Dance New Jersey and Curator of coLAB Arts' Motion: New Danceworks Choreography Residency in New Brunswick, NJ.
Kyle Georgina Marsh, is a New York/Jersey City based dance artist. Born in Tokyo, and raised throughout Japan, Australia, Hawaii, England, and India, Kyle’s upbringing as a young person was culturally diverse. In June of 2015 Kyle will be one of four selected emerging choreographers to be presented at the New Jersey Performing Arts Center (NJPAC) in Jersey (New) Moves! . Similarly, in the fall of 2013, Kyle was one of four choreographers in residence at Lustig Dance Theatre via their partnership with coLAB Arts. Through this opportunity, Kyle’s work, The Unbidden Occasion, was reviewed by The New Jersey Star Ledger as having been “the evenings most successful premiere.” Most recently Kyle’s work has been presented in the: Triskelion Arts Center’s Dance Film Lab Festival (2015), Under Exposed @ Dixon Place (2015), WAXworks (2015), Your Move (2014), Motion: New Dance Works (2013), Brooklyn UPSTART Festival (2012), College Partnership Program (2012), among others. During 2011-2012, Kyle studied abroad at the Jerusalem Academy of Music and Dance . While abroad Kyle’s work was presented at both the Gertrude Krause Choreography Competition and in her self-produced collaborative arts show Visiting Voices. As a member of the Jerusalem Academy’s Dance Ensemble (JADE), Kyle studied and toured the repertory of significant Israeli choreographers; and had the privilege of performing at The Susan Dellal Center for Dance and Theater in Tel Aviv. Kyle holds a B.F.A. in dance from Mason Gross School of the Arts and a Masters Degree in Dance Education from The Graduate School of Education, Rutgers University.
Kyle Marshall currently dances with Doug Elkins Choreography Etc, Tiffany Mills Company and was a founding member of 10 Hairy Legs. Kyle created Kyle Marshall Choreography in 2014 to help support his dance-making process. He is curious how histories, cultural movements and personal experiences dictate how people create social groups and interact with their environments. Kyle's dances have been performed at the Dumbo Dance Festival, Movement Research at Judson Church, Dixon Place, Triskelion Arts, Greenspace, Upstart Festival at BAX, STUFFED, AUNTS, Rutgers University and the Dance+ Festival in Portland, OR. He has also received residencies from the Jamaica Performing Arts Center, coLab Arts and is the 2016 Montclair Dance Festival’s emerging commissioned choreographer.
